The #endingtrachoma team have stayed busy during the COVID-19 pandemic, despite the 41 remote communities they service, being closed. The team is currently investigating the fit out for the new Rotary funded trailer which will include an industrial washer and dryer along with their usual BBQ, jumping castle, movie screen and hand washing facilities. This trailer will target communities where an environmental health referral has been received and where washing of clothes and bed linen will act as a prevention strategy for further infections.
The team has also produced a short hand washing cartoon which can be utlilised free of charge both during and post COVID-19. The cartoon is ideal to be played in clinic waiting rooms or as part of a community health promotion or education program. You can view the cartoon below.
