THE #ENDINGTRACHOMA TEAM LAUNCH THEIR LATEST HAND AND FACE WASHING VIDEO
By Dr Mel Stoneham
On the 15 October 2021 which was Global Handwashing Day with a theme of “Our Future is at Hand – Let’s Move Forward Together,” the #endingtrachoma team launched their latest hand and face washing video.
This video features students from the remote Tjuntjunjarra school and was supported by the Goldfields Public Health Unit and Spinifex Health. It used the existing #endingtrachoma soundtrack to the Six Steps to Stopping Germs advertisement which was filmed with ladies from the Nollamara Footy Team, to create a new short 30 second video illustrating the same six steps but using the school students as actors.
This fun music video is free to use with any hygiene program or in clinic waiting rooms, and features Milpa the Trachoma Goanna. The Six Steps to Stopping Germs are:
- Blow nose until empty
- Wash hands with soap and water
- Wash face to clean snot and yucky eyes
- Brush teeth with toothpaste morning and night
- Have a shower with soap every day
- Don’t share towels
Here’s the video, we hope you enjoy it and pass it on to your colleagues.
