PHAIWA is a Founding Partner of Nature Play WA.


 

Nature Play WA Inc is an incorporated not-for-profit association established to increase the time Western Australian children spend in unstructured play outdoors and in nature. 

The key messages for Natureplay will integrate well with many existing or planned public health, health promotion and advocacy projects, strategies and programs. This can be demonstrated by the Natureplay key messages which include:

• Nature play is essential to children’s cognitive, physical, emotional and social development.
• Modern kids spend more time indoors than any other generation in history.
• Nature play leads to the resilience and creativity that define the Australian character.
• Kids are not sedentary by nature – we make them that way, and we can change it.
• The risks of nature play are less than the risks of a sedentary lifestyle.
• There is no better way to encourage physical activity than to take children outdoors.
• Every child has a right to unstructured play outdoors.
• Experiences in nature are good for children.
• Nature play increases the health and connectedness of communities.
• Experience in nature as a child leads to environmental stewardship later in life.
