- Have Your Say
This month PHAIWA examines the issue of sports sponsorship and an individuals choice whether to be associated with the company, brand or product. There have been a couple of examples (Sonny Bill Williams and Fawad Ahmed) where individual players have been allowed to cover up particular sponsor logos based on their religious beliefs. The New Zealand Rugby Players Association has reported that players can submit a conscientious objections however this was not always granted. Sponsorship can have mutual benefits for companies and clubs so PHAIWA wants to know what you think:
“Should individual players be able to choose not to be associated with sponsors they do not support?”
